531 Additional Slot Machines Authorized for Maryland Live Casino
Maryland Lottery approves operation of new machines
The Maryland Lottery tested and approved 531 additional slot machines this week at Maryland Live Casino. The new machines, which include several electronic table games, are available for public use tonight at the Anne Arundel County facility. Also debuting at Maryland Live Casino is a second bar overlooking the Rams Head Center Stage, a live entertainment venue spotlighting artists of all genres.
Owned by the Baltimore-based Cordish Co., Maryland Live Casino opened on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, with approximately 3,200 slot machines and electronic table games. The slot machine selection includes licensed products such as Wheel of Fortune, Wizard of Oz and Monopoly. Electronic table games include blackjack, roulette, craps, poker and other popular casino games.
When fully operational, the $500 million Maryland Live Casino will be one of the largest gaming, retail and entertainment destinations in the country with 4,750 slot machines and electronic table games and nationally acclaimed restaurants such as Bobby’s Burger Palace from celebrated chef Bobby Flay, The Cheesecake Factory®, Phillips® Seafood and The Prime Rib®. The casino and its ancillary developments will employ 1,500 upon completion.
This is the third casino to open in Maryland. The other two: Hollywood Casino Perryville, which opened in September 2010; and Casino at Ocean Downs, which opened in January 2011. To date, the casinos have generated more than $297.5 million in total gaming revenue with more than $144 million going to Maryland’s Education Trust Fund.
